Description

Define, manage and drive the roadmap for new and existing passport and ID card personalization systems. Manage the efficient & cost effective development of agreed new or enhanced hardware through close relationships with the development team and/ or selected 3rd parties in accordance with agreed priorities and approved business cases. Identify areas for improvement, propose new projects and assist in the preparation of business cases.
Ensure that new and existing products and features are correctly defined through functional requirements specifications linked to approval & qualification testing. New & enhanced products must meet the functional requirements.
Evaluation of competitor / supplier hardware personalization technologies. Work with 3rd parties associated with the provision of hardware and material products. Maintain close supplier relationships & commercial agreements.
Work with R&D, technical & product marketing functions across CID and HID to optimize synergies & ensure efficient technical communications on new & implemented projects.
By providing knowledge of software interface requirements and equipment performance in use.
By market research, supplier relationships, attendance of conferences, exhibitions & seminars, ensure that relevant technical advances are known, communicated & utilized. Maintain close knowledge of supplier offerings & of international customer projects.
Support the wider functions in the provision of solution design and technical expertise to commercial & sales on bids, opportunities and development activities.
Provide technical training & produce technical product support material for agreed hardware and material products.
 Support the internal launch of new products & features to the business. Support the production of samples & other associated launch materials.
Reports & reviews as agreed with line management & timely project progress status.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a technical and/or engineering background with at least five years experience in Product Management, ideally with an understanding of Personalization Equipment technology and materials. Experience of managing suppliers & their resources for effective product development & issue resolution and experience in producing product support materials & of undertaking product demonstrations and briefings, is an advantage for this role. 
You should have a proven ability to provide technical input to cross-functional teams & able to communicate complex technical concepts simply to non-technical colleagues and clients. You should also demonstrates good analytical skills & evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual & qualitative information.
